The rules surrounding vaping in Newfoundland are government by the Smoke-Free Environment Act and the Tobacco and Vapour Products Control Act. Key points of the legislation include:

  • E-cigarette products cannot be sold to minors;
  • Vaping is banned wherever smoking is not allowed, including in public spaces, workplaces, except designated areas in long-term care facilities and workplaces that are exempted under the regulations, on restaurant and bar patios, and in vehicles with kids under 16 years of age;
  • Vapour products cannot be sold in places where tobacco sales are banned;
  • Promotional materials and e-cigarette products cannot be visible from outside of stores;
  • The display of promotional materials and vapour products is restricted, with some exemptions for vape shops;
  • Outdoor signage is not allowed;
  • Restrictions are placed on the types of signs that can be displayed in shops;
  • Vape shops must not sell anything other than vapour products.
